"Lion Boy" is the first part of a trilogy, written by a mother and daughter under the pseudonym of Zizou Corder. Its a great read following the story of a young boy whose parents are abducted, and who sete out to rescue them using his unusual talent of being able to speak to cats - something he inherited as a young child when scratched by a lion while living in Africa.
Its a really enchanting tale, which is laced with wonderful characters like nothing we have ever seen before - those who work in the travelling circus are verging on something we would have found in fairy tales written during the 1900's.
To quote......."Charlie Ashanti can speak Cat. He takes it for granted - but when his mum and dad go missing, the cats are the only friends he can turn to. Setting out to find his parents, Charlie stows away on a circus ship bound for Paris. On board he meets six proud, beautiful Lions who need his help. With danger close behind and uncertainty ahead, they embark together on the adventure of a lifetime."
Each copy is in perfect unread condition, and has been signed by both of the authors. There is a large Zizou Corder signature, with both the mother and daughters monograms below - copies signed by both authors are fairly rare.
There is already a huge amount of publicity surrounding this book - apparently Puffin paid £1,000,000 for the book rights, and the film rights have already been sold to Dreamworks (ie Steven Spielberg) - and unlike many books where the film rights are sold and the film is never made, this one looks certain to go ahead.
A fine book in a fine protected dustwrapper.
