I first started reading the manuscript for this book during a car journey with my wife (I wasn't driving I hasten to add!). Normally I can read a few pages when in the car and then the sickness thing stops me from getting any further. However, I skipped through the first page of "Farperoo" and was fascinated, turned to page 2 and was intrigued, turned to page 3 and was hooked. 3 hours, 150+ pages and 200 miles later I was still completely absorbed by the story. (My wife had never known me to be so quiet for so long). My only regret was that I had only brought the first part of the first volume with me, and had left the next 2 manuscripts at home. The 3 manuscripts I have so far read make up the first volume of what is to be an epic tale - even the first volume is a massive 370,000 words (which for comparisons sake is bigger than "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"). There are a total of 12 volumes planned, so if nothing else this should be the largest tale ever told!!
When I finally did manage to speak it was something along the lines of "I cannot believe how good this book is". It has to be the most creative, addictive and well thought out childrens book since XXXXXXXXXXX (Not wanting to make comparisons I'll leave it for you to figure it out when you read it), but this really is the complete and finished article. I have no hesitancy whatsoever in saying it is as good as ANY childrens book I have ever read, without doubt. Since that first car journey I have read the second and third manuscripts, and can honestly say the story just gets better and better and better.
I don't want to go into the story in too much depth as its a shame to spoil such a brilliant tale, but I can guarantee it will have every reader hooked and desperate for volumes 2 etc. However, if you do want a little bit more information, following is a copy of the authors own synopsis.......

The signature is across a beautifully designed full colour bookplate, with the signature stretching across the bookplate and onto the page on either side. ie the Bookplates are fixed into the book and then signed over. This bookplate is also signed by the illustrator and bears an ink thumb print by the author.
I first started reading the manuscript for this book during a car journey with my wife (I wasn't driving I hasten to add!). Normally I can read a few pages when in the car and then the sickness thing stops me from getting any further. However, I skipped through the first page of "Farperoo" and was fascinated, turned to page 2 and was intrigued, turned to page 3 and was hooked. 3 hours, 150+ pages and 200 miles later I was still completely absorbed by the story. (My wife had never known me to be so quiet for so long). My only regret was that I had only brought the first part of the first volume with me, and had left the next 2 manuscripts at home. The 3 manuscripts I have so far read make up the first volume of what is to be an epic tale - even the first volume is a massive 370,000 words (which for comparisons sake is bigger than "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"). There are a total of 12 volumes planned, so if nothing else this should be the largest tale ever told!!
When I finally did manage to speak it was something along the lines of "I cannot believe how good this book is". It has to be the most creative, addictive and well thought out childrens book since XXXXXXXXXXX (Not wanting to make comparisons I'll leave it for you to figure it out when you read it), but this really is the complete and finished article. I have no hesitancy whatsoever in saying it is as good as ANY childrens book I have ever read, without doubt. Since that first car journey I have read the second and third manuscripts, and can honestly say the story just gets better and better and better.

UK Hardback proof edition. Signed by the author directly onto the title page.
This is one of a small number of proof copies which were run off for distribution to the press and publishers. The proof is a true uncorrected bound proof (hardback), with all of the errors presen which it was designed to catch eg the type blocks are set too far to the right, chapter headings are missing.
Additionally all of the proofs feature the brown cover artwork which was originally planned - this was subsequently changed for the finished book which is being published with a vivid green colour being used for the leather effect illustration. It is also lacking the varnish which will be used to highlight the central artwork and lettering. The ISBN number quoted on the proof is also different to the one which was used on the finished book.
The author has signed and numbered this copy, plus he has added a green ink thumbprint to mirror the earth element of the glyph on the front cover and spine.
