I first started reading the manuscript for this book during a car journey with my wife (I wasn't driving I hasten to add!). Normally I can read a few pages when in the car and then the sickness thing stops me from getting any further. However, I skipped through the first page of "Farperoo" and was fascinated, turned to page 2 and was intrigued, turned to page 3 and was hooked. 3 hours, 150+ pages and 200 miles later I was still completely absorbed by the story. (My wife had never known me to be so quiet for so long). My only regret was that I had only brought the first part of the first volume with me, and had left the next 2 manuscripts at home. The 3 manuscripts I have so far read make up the first volume of what is to be an epic tale - even the first volume is a massive 370,000 words (which for comparisons sake is bigger than "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"). There are a total of 12 volumes planned, so if nothing else this should be the largest tale ever told!!

When I finally did manage to speak it was something along the lines of "I cannot believe how good this book is". It has to be the most creative, addictive and well thought out childrens book since XXXXXXXXXXX (Not wanting to make comparisons I'll leave it for you to figure it out when you read it), but this really is the complete and finished article. I have no hesitancy whatsoever in saying it is as good as ANY childrens book I have ever read, without doubt. Since that first car journey I have read the second and third manuscripts, and can honestly say the story just gets better and better and better.

I don't want to go into the story in too much depth as its a shame to spoil such a brilliant tale, but I can guarantee it will have every reader hooked and desperate for volumes 2 etc. However, if you do want a little bit more information, following is a copy of the authors own synopsis.......

"A world of dark angels, giant insects and truly awful advertising campaigns...

On the day the five-fold quest for heaven began, the small town of Grimston-on-Sea was squatting beneath a heavy, doom-laden sky...

Dare to enter a fabulous tale of angelic magic, dark ritual and strange, inedible food. The story features the mysterious Lucy Blake, an 'ordinary' young girl with a talent for extraordinary lies that have a habit of coming true. Before her fourteenth birthday comes around she’s going to steal a priceless work of art, get involved in a spectacularly explosive firework display and find herself pitched into mortal combat with the winged hordes of heaven. Lucy’s friend Fenny has been kidnapped by an evil angel, but the mistress-of-lies has problems of her own. Her wafer-thin stepmother wants Lucy's boarding-house for herself, and she’s prepared to have the lying step-daughter committed to an insane asylum in order to get it. The despicable Doctor Veraciter is only too willing to help with the plan - because he’s noticed something rather interesting about Lucy’s stories. Bentley Priory, the penniless private detective, thinks it might be something to do with Lucy’s real mother, who vanished from a locked room years ago and has never been seen since. Pursued by the angel Raziel, Lucy is forced to flee into a dark and sinister world where even handbags aren't quite what they seem. Surrounded by tales of lost dragons and mythical cities, she and her companions explore a world of shew stones, talking maps, and truth cabinets. This is a world of mad inventors, ritual magicians and corrupt emperors - a world completely dominated by the equally mysterious Sisters of Perpetual Mercy. Who are they, and why are they so interested in Lucy that they're willing to destroy an entire world in order to get their hands on her?

They want her, because they know what's coming soon...

The Second War of Heaven...

We're not going to spoil the story by telling you the whole plot, but we might just tempt you with a few unanswered questions!

What's the story with all those birds?

Who are the Sisters of Perpetual Mercy?

What is the real nature of 'Lectric'?

Does the mysterious bandstand hide a secret?

Who is the Grand Architect?

Will Lucy ever get to eat that elusive bacon and marmalade sandwich?

What is the correct way to eat bogeys at an Imperial banquet?"

As if things weren't already good enough with such a magnificent story, the book features the most amazing illustration on the front and rear boards, and has 80+ illustrations within which are of the highest quality. Each one has been privately commissioned and professionally produced. The book also features colour coded endpapers, the highest quality pages, and is produced to the highest standards imaginable.

Farperoo Volume 1 (ELEMENTS MONOGRAPH)

Farperoo Volume 1 (ELEMENTS MONOGRAPH)
Price:  £700.00 / $1,050.00

Format: UK 1/1 Hardback
Signed: Yes
Publisher: Private Printing
ISBN:
In stock: 1

First edition, first impression of the UK hardback.

Signed by the author. The signature is across a beautifully designed full colour bookplate, with the signature stretching across the bookplate and onto the page on either side. ie the Bookplates are fixed into the book and then signed over. This bookplate is also signed by the illustrator and bears an ink thumb print by the author.

There are various versions of this book for sale, stretching from the basic unsigned hardback right through to a ultra rare copy of which only 21 are being produced.

The copy for sale here is known as the 'Elements' Monograph, which contains a single Enochian symbol and one of the four element glyphs. Only 84 copies of this edition are being produced.

Farperoo Volume 1 (SIGNED PROOF)

Farperoo Volume 1 (SIGNED PROOF)
Price:  £500.00 / $750.00

Format: UK Proof
Signed: Yes
Publisher: Mark Lamb Publishing
ISBN: 0-9548356-0-3
In stock: 1

UK Hardback proof edition. Signed by the author directly onto the title page.

This is one of a small number of proof copies which were run off for distribution to the press and publishers. The proof is a true uncorrected bound proof (hardback), with all of the errors presen which it was designed to catch eg the type blocks are set too far to the right, chapter headings are missing.

Additionally all of the proofs feature the brown cover artwork which was originally planned - this was subsequently changed for the finished book which is being published with a vivid green colour being used for the leather effect illustration. It is also lacking the varnish which will be used to highlight the central artwork and lettering. The ISBN number quoted on the proof is also different to the one which was used on the finished book.

The author has signed and numbered this copy, plus he has added a green ink thumbprint to mirror the earth element of the glyph on the front cover and spine.
