The book is called "Faerie Wars", and is written by an Irish author by the name of Herbie Brennan. The author has written several books previously, but this one sees him moving into a new realm - that of childrens fiction, and having read it already, I must say it is an excellent piece of work. Eoin Colfer, of "Artemis Fowl" fame said of this book...."Faerie Wars is an astounding blend of fantasy, mythology an science. Herbie Brennan is a master of all three".
